Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2014 - August
I decided to do a Halloween take on this month's tag. When I pile all my favorite stamping stuff on my workspace (as recommended in this month's tag instructions), of course it is all my spooky stuff. I really love the cat stamp on this one - I whitened his eyes up with a gel pen.
The 'rust' technique that I used with the honeycomb stencil is really cool. It is most apparent on the upper left hand side of the tag. And it was fun to fire up my sewing machine and sew the film strip onto the tag. The skeleton is stamped and then die cut with a framelit die. Gives it a nice precise look and saves me from having to 'fussy cut'. Used some black eyelash yarn for the tassel and hand sewed the pen nib to the top of the card.
Getting excited about October 31st yet?

Happy Birthday Fi!
On this card, I improved the techniques I learned from Tim's July tag. This time, the faux sand is a lot whiter and brighter, and, the sand mixture came out more crumbly yet it still sticks to the card. Also, I made the seahorses a contrasting color. I think they stand out a little better. I am happier with this effort.
Little Fi is absolutely adorable! She was much more interested in the wrapping paper, but, someday she might run across this card and marvel at the crumbly sand.
