Christmas was for the birds...

Stitched these bird ornaments using patterns from Corinne Lapierre's book 'Folk Embroidered Felt Birds'.  Our Christmas theme this year was 'Birds'.  The exception is the cardinal which is a modified etsy pattern.

My favorites were the toucan, the puffin and the flamingo!

Texture and Romance

I was excited to see that the  Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge this week is 'Add Some Texture' because I was in the process of making a birthday card and was already layering up the gesso, washi tape, paint, tissue paper, and patterned paper for the background.

For Christmas my niece sent me big sheets of handmade paper and that is what I die cut for the flowers.  I have plenty of this paper left and you will be seeing it in future projects.

The stamped image is one of my favorites - I think it is one of the first stamps I bought many years ago.

Hope everyone had a Happy Valentine's!

Casa de la Muerte

Just in time for Halloween!   Hahahahaha - just finishing up a Halloween House that I started last year.  This is my favorite so far of the Halloween Houses I have created.  I present Casa de la Muerte!

This house was inspired by a package of paper cacti I picked up on sale at Hobby Lobby.  They had pink cacti and green cacti.  I thought the pink cacti looked surreal and were perfect for the exterior.  Also, the Disney movie Coco taught me so much about the 'Day of the Dead' celebration.  That is why there are miniature cabinet card photos all over this house.

I made a tin roof using Tim Holtz mirrored paper that was run through a Big Shot embossing folder to mimic an actual tin roof.

One thing I discovered while making this house was the world of miniatures available on Etsy.  Oh my word!  The fun I had searching for the novena candle on the front left side of the door and the mini photos I used on the exterior.  I can see the lure of making miniature things and the attention to tiny detail.

Happy Halloween! Ha!!
